ABOUT THE IPM RESEARCH CENTER

THE GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

The IPM Research Center was established in 1999 within the mutual project of the Institute for Privatization and Management (Minsk, Belarus) and CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research Foundation (Warsaw, Poland). It is a member of the CASE research network, William Davidson Institute NGO Alliance, and Economic Policy Institutes Network (project of the UNDP's Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS). The IPM Research Center actively cooperates with the German Economic Team in Belarus (GET Belarus). Within this cooperation the IPM Research Center provides independent policy advice on economic issues to the different official agencies, namely to the Council of Ministers, National Bank, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance and other organizations involved in the process of formation and implementation of economic policy.

The Mission of the IPM Research Center is to enhance national competitiveness through elaboration of the research-based economic policy recommendation and the promotion of professional dialogue on the urgent issues related to economic performance.

The main objectives of the IPM Research Centre are the following:

  • Comprehensive studies of the economy of Belarus;
  • Elaboration of recommendations for reforming Belarusian economy;
  • Advising on economic issues;
  • Promotion of the public and professional dialogue on urgent problems of social and economic development of the country;
  • Training specialists and development of intellectual environment for the implementation of economic transformation in Belarus.

The IPM Research Centre aims to ensure the international standards of economic research. Personnel of the research centre widely use sophisticated methods of economic analysis and modern econometric and statistical software in the research.

  • Analysis of the Belarusian economy on macro and micro levels
  • Forecasting
  • Policy advising
  • Study of the problems of private business development in Belarus
  • Elaboration of recommendations for the implementation of economic reforms in Belarus
  • Promotion of the professional dialogue through conferences, workshops and round table discussions, publication and dissemination of the results of research, and informing the wide public about the real state of Belarusian economy through the mass media
  • Training specialists in the field of economic analysis
  • Rendering informational and consulting services to Belarusian and foreign specialists in the areas of economics and business

MAIN PRODUCTS

PROFESSIONAL AND PUBLIC DIALOGUE

One of the main objectives of the IPM Research Center is to promote professional and public dialogue on the issues of economic development of Belarus and post-communist economies. Over 10 seminars, conferences, and round table discussions are held annually with the involvement of a wide circle of experts, representatives of state and private structures, international organisations and mass media.
